About Me

Why I wanted to train as a Counsellor

Hello, my name is Anne and welcome to my profile. When I was growing up I used to go onto my mum’s ward at weekends, as both my parents were Mental Health nurses. As a consequence, I learnt from a young age that each person is an individual and no two people experience life the same way.

After having my children, I suffered from postnatal depression (postpartum) and anxiety. After that I had a realisation of wanting to help others overcome these feelings and, in particular, the feelings of ‘Not being good enough’. Therefore, I decided to train in counselling.

How Counselling can help you

Counselling can help you to develop a better understand of yourself a ‘can do’ you. You may find your feeling more peaceful and start to experience life in a more comfortable way, happier, hopeful and maybe even joyful at these changes. Maybe you find that you relate to other people differently. These will not happen straight away and there can be no guarantees.

By attending counselling you will have me by your side, offering a relaxed, non-judgmental, safe space to talk that is confidential.

What does that mean?

It means I want to listen to you and understand how you’re feeling. I don’t just listen, I also learn about you through your body language and our conversations together. I learn about your life story. As we get to know each other, trust builds and I hope to be able to help you see a clearer perspective about your life, to help you see that you are ‘Good Enough’, that you are valued and supported throughout your counselling, so that you can feel more confident to move forward in your life.

How people find me

Past clients have said that I am kind, caring, and trusting, that I have helped them to deal with things they did not know were there. These were things held in the background of their thoughts, so discovering these and working them out made them feel more confident.

With my guidance, techniques, and strategies gained from training in Person-Centred Therapy, and other modalities, clients describe feeling like a new person, and that they have been reassured and motivated into healthier habits and enabled to move themselves forward.
